Learning challenges, where to start? 1. The first steps

EDYKA HELPS YOU TO FIND YOUR WAY - 1

Regardless of the child’s age, whenever a caregiver suspects learning challenge(s), parents are often at a loss.

They don’t know what to do, where to turn to, who to consult, or where to start.

But they can always count on EDYKA to guide them!

First of all, we recommend certain BASIC MEDICAL CONSULTATIONS

Vision

An optometrist

Hearing

An EAR NOSE & THROAT doctor

General health

A pediatrician or the family doctor

and also some practical CHECKS

Is the child sitting upright?
Are their feet touching the floor or do they need a little footrest?
Is the desk too high or too low?
Are their arms at right angles when they need to write?

Once physical or medical issues are ruled out or resolved, it is important to undertake more specific LEARNING ASSESSMENTS and REVIEWS.

We recommend commencing with a check-up with a speech therapist and/or an orthoptist followed by a neuro-psychological evaluation.

Depending on the results, you may be referred to professionals best capable to provide care that meets your child’s needs.
