Some children don’t like to WRITE while others are distracted by PICTURES or experience SENSORY OVERLOAD every time they open their textbook. To make it easier for them, when we work on reading, we focus on… READING!
Letters and simple sounds

To learn the alphabet and recognize upper and lower case. letters

To differentiate vowels from consonants and form simple sounds or words.

To learn to read the sounds, we make cards where the consonant is written in one colour and the vowel in another.
Reading

Then, we make cards with simple and short words like car, bus, pen,…

Where letters are silent we use a different colour.

Finally, we make cards with short simple sentences followed by more complex ones.
